Working Life: The Prologue.

Ladies and Gentlemen… Welcome to the first episode of the new season of Huskiez: The Chronicles

So where do I start? I graduated, got my new visa, moved out of the dorms, got a full-time job, life is nothing like it was 5 months ago. To be fair, I wouldn’t say that ‘s a bad thing. Anyways, let’s dig into it!

First off, let’s start with the post-graduation life: I spent the whole month helping out a volunteer project. Being responsible for most of the development, I was forced to grow as a developer. It turned out, collaborating with people from different backgrounds (eg. the designers and the PM) was ** NOTHING** like doing assignments. Back then, I could just look at the rubrics to have an exact idea of what’s to be made, but that’s not how it works in reality; basically, if I earned a buck every time I had to change the scope/functionality, I’d probably own a house by now.

Compatibility is also something I never thought about back in school days; in academic settings, people likely have ( hopefully) state-of-the-art machines, or at least up-to-date operating systems and software. However, that is not the case here; I remember staying up until 5 AM one day trying to fix an issue where someone using iPhone 5 couldn’t render the page… oh boy was it fun. Unfortunately, for some political reasons, the website got kinda stale and we don’t update it anymore.

Nevertheless, that project really helped me prepare for a real job. Everything happened really quickly: a friend contacted me for a job opening, I applied, and pretty much used the site I made as my portfolio project. And here I am, living the life of 9-5. My position is remote, which is pretty nice because waking up 5 minutes before work is a blessing. One thing I learn though is that work is much less scary than I thought. On top of that, being the least experience person on the team is somewhat fun, because you have to try to catch up to others, and everyone at work has been really helpful in that process for me.

Serious talk asides, I finally finished my first playthrough of Divinity: Original Sins 2 and have been going through a Tactician run. Started playing League and Overwatch again. Other than that it’s just RuneScape. Hard to play games when you work full-time and have like a million other hobbies I guess.

Aight, I know it’s been a long time since last post, and this post isn’t particularly neat, but despite enjoying the hell outta my work, full-time job still makes my brain go brrrrrrrrr. So well, I’ve been trying to update this blog site and make it look nicer, and definitely trying to write more blogs…if I ever have time for it. Thanks for reading my rant.

Cheers,
Husk

Ps. Time for shameless self-promotion again. I recently got a tripod and a guitar so I decided to start filming myself, feel free to check out my YouTube Channel

TL;DR of this part:

My life is literally this meme and I'm grateful
