Student Life: The Final Arc

Oi oi oi,

been a long time isn’t it? Well, I’ve been busy having a life (and not having a life). Truth be told, I haven’t been paying much attention to classes at all. Ever since I figured out what I wanna do as a career, I literally lost interest in anything unrelated to that path. Honestly, I do realise that it’s one of my biggest flaws; however, as long as I still maintain satisfactory performance in other areas, nothing wrong with doing what I love, right? Anyways, enough of the introduction. Let’s do some little self-reflection shall we?

First of all, as the student chapter is drawing to an end, I’ve been looking up information regarding my visa and career. I’m 90% going to work as a web dev or SRE. (I’d love to do game dev, but I don’t think that’s a realistic goal where I live.) The other 10% is probably me taking on some random casual/temp positions while I look for a dev job. On top of that, I also gotta take IELTS for the Visa application. Unsurprisingly, I haven’t even booked a session, let alone prepared for it. :)

My plan for now is to go to University’s International Student Advisor and Careers Service, both of them should give me a pretty good idea of what to expect. The agent who assisted me when I first came here probably can help me get this new Visa too as well. But well, we’ll see. I hope I don’t forget again… (tbf… I just need to stop P-R-O-C-R-A-S-T-I-N-A-T-E)

As for my programming experience, I’ve been getting deeper and deeper into React. (Not that deep, but well, deepER than last month for sure.) I kinda wanna poke around with Electron so I can eventually convert web apps to desktop apps. The collab I have with my friend is also finally deployed. It’s mostly his work but hey, I got to learn tonnes of techniques from it. I wish I could have participated more but I guess I’m still nowhere near ready to work at that level.

Oh yeah, last thing: I finally started playing RS3 for real. Quests feel much better when you don’t have ancient graphics. Might be that I’m a little burnt from OSRS too, but for now RS3 is much more engaging for me. I need to make sure I still balance school, gaming and career though. Fingers crossed.

Well, that’s a long post from me. I guess I haven’t been as active as I would like, but I’ll work on that from now on. Hopefully I can give this blog some new look and finally build my portfolio page. Thanks for reading again!!

Ciao,

Husky
